DO WE CELEBRATE INDEPENDENCE DAY...???

A very happy independence day to all my readers. Remember the sacrifice the great freedom fighters, the role the inspiring leaders and who not?? Today, we are all able to express our views, ask for the rights, think of the world because of the great effort of the great ancestors who fought for the free nation and sacrificed their lives to the independent India. Lets all bow our heads to them for having given us the dear life on our beautiful mother land.

As India stands on the threshold of her 61st year of Independence, a number of emotions run across every Indian. It is a momentous journey as we go back in time and trace India’s struggle for freedom!!! After 61 years of India’s independence, we have lot many issues to discuss. For a long time, our country was seen as the backward country. But times have changed, the economy is booming, and the country has been reborn. Countries like Japan, USA, and China want to make business with our country. People like J.R.D.Tata, Dhirubhai Ambani, R.Narayanamurthy, Abhinav Bindra, Sunitha Williams, Kalpana Cahwla, A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, Rajendra Kumar Pachauri, and many more. They helped India to be lift its position proudly on the Global Platform. May it be the literacy rate, may it be the field of IT, may it be the field of medicine, whichever the field it is, India has left its mark in the recent past.

BUT,

We still are not sure if we are all free. Don’t we find ourselves fighting to get relieved from the clutches of terrorism, poverty, corruption, inequality, etc.???? Today, the Independence Day has become a mere holiday to almost every one. We don’t care about anything that happens in the country unless and until we face it ourselves. We just say “GOVERNMENT is responsible”. But I feel it is we who are responsible. We don’t take the responsibility to the shoulders. We fight for the issues that are not needed at all. But we sit ashore watching the problem that our country is facing. We are loosing the Tradition, and Culture for which our mother land is known for. The knot of the relationship has weakened. The respect to the society is lacking. We see students working day and night for their own well being but not a single hour for the enlistment of the country.
THINK ABOUT IT…!!!
Is our Mother slipping from our hands like sand? Who has given us the gift of bomb blasts instead of fireworks on the eve of our Independence Day? Our so called leaders, are they with us or would they abandon us when we and our motherland will need them? Will I be able to feed my family while living in this country because whatever my motherland produces from within her is very costly and I being the son of the soil am not worthy of having it? Will I ever see the time when basic human needs of modern times will be provided without asking? Will I, my sons, my grandsons, my great grandsons and their sons keep serving this country without asking anything in return? The list of worries is never ending and goes on and on.
I will remember this day as a day which brought us hunger, fear, deprivation, uncertainty, injustice and above all sorrow. Oh don’t consider me sarcastic and pessimist…!!!

hai yamini,
its nice to see the awakening spirit of urs and hope many will take cue from it and start realising the transformation which is needed to uplift from the deep slumber that people of india are in and still want to be and get engrossed with their personal works more and feel that they dont owe any to society. my heart boils when indians who visit abroad and compare the system of foreign countries with india and they act as if they dont belong to india and hate the system here. i seen the very glimpse in my own brother who just have complaints against society every time. i wonder whether he realises how he has grown up and wat ideals are he talking about? everybody is so self obssessed that every one is mulling on the holiday of independence day and some are horrified because of bomb blasts etc. i sense that as soon as independence day comes our government and security agencies are on tenterhooks and are more worried about untoward incidents rather than celebrate the day with jubiliation and also remembering those great heroes without whose sacrifice we wouldnt be where we are now.

hello vijay,
its nice to see u read ma article here. i completely agree with you about the NRI's
they wish to do the server job in the US restaurent but they dont like to do a white collar job in India. our leaders like Bhagat singh, subash chandra bose etc. fought so hard to get the freedom to our country but people today enjoy working as slaves to the West. if they knew before that this is going to be the situation, i think they would never have stuggled so hard.
i dont know when is this culture going to end

hai yamini and Juggernaut (as i dont knw ur name),

well, its nice to see your comments and i would like to add that its not only about the NRIs but also about the people who aspire greener pastures. its really good that if some one wants to prove themselves and not getting enough opportunities due to this caste based and corruption bases society which makes studying in india too difficult sometimes and thus if someone want to compete with the peers from all over the world, its perfectly fine. i do believe these NRIs have done lot of good works for india and infact, yamini, i would like to tell u that many of them are funding IIMs, IITs too and also running NGOs in india, which u may not notice among many people who work in india and dont have time for others in society. i just mean that, its good to enjoy the life when they struggle all through difficulties but at the same time, everyone holds their duty to give some sort back to india either by participating in social work and upliftment or by giving advice or indulging in educating masses in india. we need to learn about civic sense which is very much needed in order to make india cleaner and beautiful which is slowly becoming dumping ground for every one and no one really bothers where these tonnes of wastages are thrown. let me tell u abt few isses. we talk about energy saving a lot in news by governments but do they really indulge in cost cutting measures? do we really save energy? atleast the power. i see power being wasted by government by litting the street lights too early in the evenings and switching off too late in the mornings, sometimes its put off in afternoons and at some places its always on. who is responsible for this mess? the government? or the people? or we too hold some responsibility? i question myself o n this regard many a times. i am trying my best to put off where ever i come across after my jogging enroute. i know i cant do everywhere but atleast somepart if i do, i guess i saved some energy being wasted. i see many people using ACs when not needed, using electrical appliances and even TV which is just put on s/by mode. dont we need to feel responsible for savign energy. i seen wastage of water also by many people and the surprising fact is, many educated indians and wealthy people behaving with callous attitude towards saving energy like power, water and also ramphant misuse of plastics. i hope, we all need to educate who ever we come across, do some thoughtful advice... i guess i can stop now. more from u people!!!!

great work vijay, accept with ur views. i agree abt the NRI's who are serving the country but i am bothered about those who speak as if they are born and broughtup abroad. may it be th e youth of the country who work very hard but still dont get into any top instis' coz' of the system here. but it doesnt mean that the solution to the problem is running away from it.but still i agree with you

coming to switching off the street lights...Huh..!!a big deal my dear. because, there are lot many people who dont think about anything in the world except the "my" feeling. it is to be generated in every human's life that it is our responsibility to save power and hence reduce the problem of global warming and therefore save the Planet EARTH.

Hi Vijay
Sorry dat I have to post this comment on Yamini's account.
U r very right dat our people r responsible for our country backwardness.
Coming to the NRI part, obviously they are helping our country a lot.
Once I remember an incidence when I was travelling my way to home in the train when I met with a NRI of Kerala residing in Australia. That guy work for NASA GIS dept.He just came all the way from US to join a NGO group in Orissa.
They are someway responsible for the development of the country.
We people dont want to get out from our comfort zone untill n unless a problem occurs which will harm our-self.
The people here really dont care about the problems of other.
Most of our youngsters are busy in dreaming abt the third world.
The only thing we can do is to hope every thing will be OK oneday.
